Leadership in focus in Gothenburg: If they can, I can - on leading others and yourself

Many thanks to Kina Wileke, Executive Vice President Group Communication and Chair of the Board of World of Volvo, who generously shared her insights, experiences and perspectives on leadership - clearly, inspiringly and with great presence.

Kina took us through her leadership journey and shared the lessons that have shaped her, as well as the principles she still leads by today. She began her career at TV4 during the company’s start-up phase - an environment marked by entrepreneurial spirit, high pace and significant responsibility. There, “learning by doing” became more than just a phrase. Stepping forward, taking responsibility and solving what needed to be solved - even without formal expertise - became second nature.

In an organization shaped by many strong opinions, she also learned the importance of bringing people with you. “Managing by walking around” became an approach - being present, listening and creating momentum together with others. Her journey then continued within the Volvo Group, from serving as speechwriter to then-CEO Leif Johansson to becoming a member of Volvo Group’s Executive Board. A journey that reflects courage, curiosity and continuous growth.

One of the principles Kina highlighted was the importance of constantly moving between the operational and the long term - shifting between strategy and detail when the situation requires it. She also emphasized the power of communicative leadership and the courage to surround yourself with people who are better than you.

Many thanks to Kina and to everyone who attended - it was a clear reminder that truly good leadership is both felt and proven in practice.
